Under the tents, Outside the Celebrations

As a queer person, I’ve often felt my identity overtly excluded from traditional social spaces like weddings, ceremonies, and family gatherings. This painting  reflects on the exclusivity and hegemonic structures these sites often uphold. Shamania called tents in Hindi and often used during functions and festivals in India. This tent becomes a physical threshold separating the inside from the outside.
