I am currently in the process of tracing my steps back to the roots I detached myself from, beginning with my family home. Growing up in a conservative family in Chennai and Hyderabad meant constant renegotiation between connecting and disengaging with familial practices informed by inherited traditions. The back and forth of ignoring and revisiting my experiences within these walls became a way of slowly recognising the power structures that shaped ideas of gender, sexuality, religion and caste, both inside the home and outside it.
