Edhuru

“Edhuru” stems from a personal journey of exploring the idea of acceptance within a family.  The ‘Gadapa’ meaning a traditional doorstep found in Indian households became a starting point. A physical threshold that separates the Inside from the Outside.  I began to look at the Inside

from the Outside, with the Gadapa as a point of seperation. The title translated from

Telugu is a wordplay with different meanings: I stand in front of you, I watch you, I oppose you. As a queer artist, I want to engage with this threshold, reimagining ways to push and pull, between the personal and the familial.
